Department Lead, Lindø

Location: Denmark, Lindø

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind is looking for an experienced Department Lead with knowledge and expertise within areas of managing in a manufacturing environment and furthermore desire to take ownership of the production processes at the new nacelle facility on Lindø. Reporting to the Operations Line Manager; you will be a key member of the factory management team, thus leading production teams. Responsibilities and tasks
The Department Lead will take responsibility for the work of shift teams, who will be accountable for ensuring the continuous production of the Nacelles. Being manager for the assembly- and quality inspection team the candidate is in charge of developing the processes in the assembly and naturally supervising assembly as well as quality inspection.
The processes will require the use of epoxy based resin and hardeners, therefore this position may not be suitable for those who previously have had a recorded reaction to such products.

Your main responsibilities will be

  • Managing the assembly department with a team consisting of 1 shift lead and
    moreover the team of operatives working 24h 5 days.
  • Motivating and coaching
    shift leads and operatives to work safely and deliver continuous production to
    the required quality standards as well as ensure that work instructions are
    followed.
  • You will be working with the Quality department on identification
    of critical issues and prioritizing improvement projects.
  • Drive and deliver
    Takt Time reductions in line with the delivery plan.
  • Identify and manage
    training needs in the team and if needed arrange for training to be
    realised.
  • Maintain high safety standards and work with the HSE department to
    develop a culture working towards ‘zero incidents’ by reporting and managing
    risks out of the process.
  • Be aware of customer complaints and actively
    develop solutions.
  • Be aware of Non-Conforming products and actively implement
    corrective actions.
  • Manage the annual cycle of People Review, Motivation
    & Performance dialogue and Salary review.
  • Approval of time registration,
    daily work plan, development reviews, planning regarding absence, follow up on
    the production plan progress and ensure that everybody works according to the
    respective procedures.

Qualifications and work experience
The ideal candidate has great experience of management in a production or assembly factory working with chemical and mechanical processes respectively. One should have success with LEAN especially within planning boards and lastly have a mechanical or electrical degree from a technical school/college/university as well as an education within management.

  • Awareness of ISO 9001, if possible also ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.
  • Six sigma
    experience (minimum Green Belt).

Competencies
The candidate should master strong communication skills with fluent English (written and oral) and be comfortable communicating to all levels in the organisation. You have the drive and the personality to continuously motivate and coach your team towards agreed and stay loyal to the management decisions. It is inevitable to be a team player and one must comprehend working in line- and matrix organizations. The understanding of safety, quality processes and reporting is crucial within the organisation. The industry requires one to be able to adapt and change quickly and effectively work under great pressure. Additionally the candidate should be able to use Microsoft Office and ERP systems. Lastly, the attention to detail is essential, but as a manager you must be able to step back and let the organization deliver while you secure the overview.
