Shift Lead, Nakskov

Location: Denmark, Nakskov

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind is looking for a Shift Lead with experience of working safely in a 24 hour manufacturing environment. Ideally you have knowledge and expertise within areas of leading teams working with carbon, composites, epoxy resins and power tools. You will have the opportunity to develop a career in an international company within an exciting industry.

Responsibilities and tasks
The Shift Lead will take responsibility for the work of a shift team covering one of the four main processes of Shell, Web, Finish, Kit & Carbon. They will be responsible for ensuring the continuous production of our record breaking 80 metre blade.
The processes will require the use of epoxy based resin and hardeners, therefore this position may not be suitable for persons who have previously had a recorded reaction to such products.

Your main responsibilities will be

  • Developing and leading a team of production operatives.
  • Contributing to the
    production activities including layup of material (carbon, glass fibre) in the
    moulds to the set layup plans, application of resins under pressure, application
    of bonding materials, use of power tools to trim and grind, to achieve the
    required finish.
  • Keeping the work area safe and clean.
  • Producing to the
    required quality standards.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and Takt Time
    reduction activities.
  • Maintain production reporting.

Qualifications and work experience
The ideal candidate should have proven experience of leading teams in a manufacturing environment. Formal qualifications (HND/HNC/City & Guilds) would be an advantage, but are not a requirement. Ability to work in shifts is essential.

Competencies
The candidate should master strong communication skills with fluent English (written and oral) and be comfortable communicating to all levels in the organisation. It is inevitable to be a team player and have an overall understanding of safety, quality and reporting. Lastly, the candidate should be able to use Microsoft Office more specifically Excel
